  • By Road

    Cardiff is served by the M4 and is easily accessible from all parts of Britain.

    Travelling east on the M4
    Leave the motorway at Junction 32 and follow the A470, signposted City Centre, into the Cathays area of the city.

    Travelling west on the M4
    Leave the motorway at Junction 29 and follow the A48(M)/A48, signposted Cardiff East and South, to the A470. Follow the A470, signposted City Centre, into the Cathays area of the city. Bottom of Form

    Car Parking
    Unless pre-organised and confirmed with the University, there is no parking available in the University Car Park for visitors.

    There is pay and display car parking available on Park Place and within the civic centre (along College Road, City Hall Road, King Edward VII Avenue and Museum Avenue). Depending on where you park, this typically costs around £3.50 for three hours and payment is by coin or debit/credit card.  Charges for city centre multi-storey car parks vary considerably, up to £15.00 per day.

    By Rail

    The two nearest train Stations to the University of Wales Building are Cathays and Cardiff Central.

    Cathays Station
    More generally used for local travel, it takes approximately 5 minutes to walk from the station to the University of Wales building.

    Cardiff Central
    Frequent services between all major British cities and Cardiff arrive at Cardiff Central, and it takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the University of Wales Building.

    Alternatively travellers can either catch a connection to Cathay stations, or take the No 6 Bus from the back of the Station on Penarth Road which drops off on King Edward VII Avenue (about a 10 minute journey).

    If travelling by taxi from the station, ask to be dropped off by Cathays Park Police Station (which the University is situated next to).

    By Air

    Cardiff International Airport is 11 miles from the city centre

    By Coach

    Cardiff is served by regular coach services from towns and cities across the UK, including direct services to Cardiff Central Station from London’s Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and local bus services also operate from Cardiff Central Station.
