Institutions listed on this page were associated with the University of Wales in the past. 

For Constituent or Member Institutions, this means that the University of Wales awarded all the degree level qualifications for students attending the Institution and many diploma and certificate awards as well. 

For Accredited Institutions, this means the majority of their qualifications were through the University of Wales. 

For Affiliated Institutions, this means a smaller number were awards of the University of Wales.

  • University of Wales Institute for Science and Technology (UWIST)(1967-1988)
  • University of Wales, Lampeter (1996 - 2010), formerly St. David's University College, Lampeter (1971- 1996)
  • Trinity University College (2009-2010), formerly Trinity College, Carmarthen (1994-2009)

Former Accredited Institutions

The University of Wales is still the awarding body for some existing students at these Institutions but new students from October 2010 will normally be offered the award of the Institution itself on qualification.

Former Affiliated Institution

The University of Wales is still the awarding body for a small number of existing students at Cardiff University, which has exercised its own degree-awarding powers since 2005.
