Although the University of Wales was founded to provide opportunities for academic and intellectual development within Wales, it has extended this mission to provide similar opportunities to a global student community. As Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Nigel Palastanga says, “the scale and diversity of the University of Wales student community is such that learning and teaching must be at the heart of what we do. It is right and fitting that the University rewards good practice in this area and strives to ensure that this is shared across its network and beyond.”
The University is therefore very pleased to announce the launch of the UW Teaching Fellowship scheme, to reward and celebrate the excellent work of its staff in providing UW students with a quality learning experience. Whilst the title of this scheme may draw attention to teaching practice, this new scheme also seeks to recognise the range of support activities which contribute to the quality of students’ learning experience.
In its inaugural year (which will also serve as a trial), the scheme will make six £5,000 fellowship awards; three will be made to eligible staff at UW Alliance Partner Institutions and three to eligible staff at UW Collaborative Partner Institutions. The deadline for receiving fellowship applications is 7 December 2009.There are six £5,000 fellowship awards available, three will be made to eligible staff at UW Alliance Partner Institutions and three to eligible staff at UW Collaborative Partner Institutions.
