D Lloyd Thomas Memorial Scholarship

This Scholarship is provided from the income of a gift made to the University in June, 1989 by the family and friends of the late D Lloyd Thomas, BSc PhD (London), a native of Maesteg, a graduate of the University and sometime teacher at Imperial College, London.

Eligibility

  • Welsh-speaking
  • accepted for an undergraduate degree at Aberystwyth and Swansea in rotation,
  • satisfy the matriculation requirements of the University,
  • born, or resident within the County of Mid-Glamorgan,
  • preference shall be given to any such candidate born, or a resident, within the Maesteg area (as defined by the boundaries of the Borough of Ogwr),
  • if the scholarship is not awarded for three years, the residential qualifications above may be waived to enable an award to be made in the following year,
  • a student who has already entered upon a scheme of study for a degree of the University shall not be eligible for an award.

Amount

£600, which can be held for up to three years, subject to satisfactory report from the institution.
