The Mrs John Nixon Research Scholarship†

Purpose

To promote research in Medicine and Medical Pathology in the Cardiff University School of Medicine.

Eligibility

  • must have qualified for a degree of the University of Wales,
  • must furnish satisfactory evidence of his/her ability to carry out research in Medicine and Medical Pathology
  • based on the recommendation of the Faculty of Medicine, provided that a suitable candidate is forthcoming,
  • candidate shall work in School of Medicine under the supervision of a Head of Department
  • supervisor may recommend candidate spend a portion of the time in any other medical or scientific institution or in investigating the subject of research elsewhere

Amount

  • value of MRC and SERC Scholarships
  • tenable for one year,
  • possibility of extension by the University for a second or third year,
  • recipient, at the conclusion of their tenure, will submit a detailed report of their work to the supervisor, who shall forward it, with comments, through the Faculty of Medicine, for the consideration of the University,
  • all publications recording the results of the researches shall clearly state that the work was made possible by the Mrs John Nixon Research Scholarship.
