Teaching Fellowship Awards 2010/11
Following the successful pilot of the University of Wales Teaching Fellowship Scheme last year, an extended pilot for this initiative will be launched on Friday, 9th July 2010.
The scheme aims to raise the profile of learning and teaching in University of Wales Alliance Institutions (AIs) and Collaborative Centres (CCs) by recognising and celebrating individuals who make an outstanding contribution to the student learning experience in these institutions. This enhancement activity will allow the sharing of good practice within institutions and between staff in AIs and CCs to the benefit of students on University of Wales awards.
The University of Wales has drawn together a panel of experts in the field of learning and teaching, who will oversee the developments of the awards and the assessment of fellowship applications.
Five fellowships will be made to eligible staff working in AIs and five to eligible staff working in CCs. Each award will be of £5,000. The awards may be used for personal and/or professional development in aspects of learning and teaching, all of which must broadly be within the theme of enhancing the student learning experience and/or sharing good practice.
Where a Collaborative Centre nominates a candidate who is successful, the Centre will be eligible for one of the following:
-
registration fees for one member of staff from the Centre to attend the Postgraduate Certificate in Developing Professional Practice in Higher Education at the University of Wales, Newport;
-
a donation of up to £1,000 from the University of Wales, to be used to support learning and teaching/enhancement projects at the Centre. Funding will be provided subject to confirmation of use and programme Moderator’s approval.
The closing dates for applications is 31st December 2010. Please send any queries about this scheme to teachingawardswales.ac.uk|
