Rhys at Gregynog with the completed Student Submission

Hi Guys, My name is Rhys Parry and I am the newest member of the Academic Registry at the University of Wales, I have joined the department as a Student Liaison Officer (SLO) and I hope that together with you and our current team we can improve the University of Wales’ engagement with Students.

Through studying my undergraduate degree I became involved within the Student Movement as a Course Representative and I then progressed in to the role of President of the Students’ Union. Since entering Higher Education I have always believed that students should be able to shape their own education, have the freedom to engage with staff and deserve the right to be taken seriously; therefore, I have represented students in education in the past and endeavour to support you however possible.

In the coming months I will be developing UW’s student engagement with Collaborative Centres in London and expanding the student welfare and educational aspects of the Global Campus in the form of a ‘Survival Guide’. Adapting to student life can be daunting, so I hope the Survival Guide will provide generic advice and information regarding experiences that students may encounter during university, with topics ranging from accommodation to Visas.

If you have any thoughts or ideas that you believe would be relevant and effective for the Survival Guide; please leave a comment or e-mail me at r.parrywales.ac.uk|

Remember this is your website; make sure it’s tailored for your needs!
Keep up to date with my role and development in student engagement mechanisms through my weekly blog.

Best Wishes
Rhys
