Update

Hi Guys,

I’m sorry I have not updated you in a while; I have had two of the busiest months of my life.

Although, I do have a new joke that I picked up on my travels. Get ready for this one...

How do you make a tissue dance? ........................YOU PUT A BIT OF BOOGIE IN IT!!

(HAHA)

Now I’ve got that out of the way, I’ll let you know what I’ve been up to.

With it being the start of Freshers and Induction periods, I was invited to Holborn College in London, to meet with students and be involved in their Induction process. It was a great day and I would like to thank all the staff and the students for being so warm and welcoming to me. I also caught the 161 bus back to the North Greenwich Underground, which would have been a struggle, if I didn’t have the students travelling the same way and looking after me!

Following this visit, I attended the Swansea Metropolitan University and the University of Wales, Glyndwr Freshers’ Fair’s. During my journey to North Wales for the Glyndwr Freshers’ Fair, I visited Coleg Harlech to meet with the new intake of students and to also provide an introduction to the Online Library.

The next part of my voyage was a trip to Hereford College for their Induction day, before travelling to the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, Lampeter campus for a Freshers’ Fair, prior to attending the Freshers’ Fair at the University of Wales, Newport. Newport’s Freshers’ Fair was the last on our calendar of the Alliance Institutions, as the start of term was delayed due to Golf’s major Ryder Cup event being held at the Celtic Manor, based in Newport.

It was, however, my penultimate Freshers’ Fair; I had one remaining, as Holborn College had invited me back for their Freshers’ event. It took place over two days, where my aim was to promote the University of Wales’ Scholarships and Bursaries, along with other areas of interest to students, such as our Student Engagement Team.

During this time, Hattie and I have also been liaising with Validation to review the current material and information we expect our Collaborative Centres to provide in their Student Handbooks. We have provided ideas to make the Student Handbook more relevant and effective for students.

This is part of a catch up blog and there is more to come shortly!

Rhys
