Translations of Geoffrey of Monmouth’s ‘History’ are among the earliest Middle Welsh books, around the middle of the thirteenth century. From then on to the end of the Middle Ages it is one of the most prominent texts in the surviving manuscripts. In this lecture Patrick Sims-Williams discusses the purpose of the translations and their relationship to each other, concentrating on versions which have not been published.
