The French Revolution of 1789 was perhaps the defining event of the Romantic period in Europe: an exciting period, full of hope and fear: a period when Europe’s societies were changed forever.
Next Wednesday the 21st of November, Dr Mary-Ann Constantine will consider the findings of a new research project on the response of the Welsh people to the challenges of the age in a lecture entitled ‘Wales and the French Revolution: Too Early to Tell?’
Dr Mary-Ann Constantine is a Senior Fellow at the University of Wales Centre for Advanced Welsh and Celtic Studies, and Leader of the Project Wales and the French Revolution, which is funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
Organised by the Learned Society for Wales, the lecture will take place in the Drwm, National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth. Starting at 6.00pm, this is a free event open to all with wine and light refreshments provided at the end of the lecture.
