The Wales Nexus Conference is the annual learning and teaching conference hosted by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and University of Wales and is due to take place on July 10 and 11, 2019 at the Dylan Thomas Centre in Swansea.
The conference will be chaired by Professor Simon Haslett, Pro-Vice Chancellor with responsibility for international and enhancement activities. He said: “This is the fourth Wales NEXUS Conference to be hosted jointly by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and the University of Wales, and I’m very excited to be chairing it once again. Although the conference is organised by UWTSD and UW, it is open to all higher education staff and students from across Wales and beyond, and offers an opportunity to disseminate ideas and network with colleagues about discipline-based research that informs the curriculum as well as research and scholarship that informs learning and teaching. I very much look forward to welcoming colleagues to Swansea for what is becoming a highly anticipated annual event.”
The conference provides an exciting platform to further develop the links between research, professional practice and teaching in Higher Education. Links between research and teaching are defined broadly to include the scholarship of learning and teaching, research-informed teaching, enriching the student experience, and highlighting student research. As well as providing a forum for research and scholarship in this area, it also provides the opportunity for professional development by focusing professional development on agreed enhancement themes, allowing individual staff to keep abreast of new developments, to refresh existing and develop new skills, and to reflect on their professional practice in general.
